Angelina Jolie Visits Iraq Amid Custody Battle with Brad Pitt

PC

Angelina Jolie visited the war-torn city of Old City in West Mosul, Iraq where she met with a man and his family who survived an airstrike on the city.
Jolie, who serves as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Special Envoy, spoke with Mohamed, whose house was hit by an airstrike, killing his 17-year-old-old daughter and destroying most of the home.
“This is the worst devastation I have seen in all my years working with UNHCR,” Jolie said. “People here have lost everything: their homes are destroyed. They are destitute. They have no medicine for their children, and many have no running water or basic services. They are still surrounded by bodies in the rubble.”
Jolie urged the world to help, saying,”I call on the international community not to forget Mosul, and not to turn their attention away from its people.”

As The Blast first reported, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been locked in an ongoing battle over custody of the couple’s children.
A judge in their divorce case determined that the former couple’s six children “not having a relationship with their father is harmful to them,” and adds that “it is critical that each of them have a healthy and strong relationship with their father and mother.”
The judge also said, “If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition, it may result in a reduction of the time they spend with [Jolie] and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to [Pitt].”
