Thousands of tucumanos went out to reject abortion

PC About 10 blocks of protesters said no to abortion. The crowd cheered when they saw the heart beat of a 14-week-old baby from a giant screen on a real-time ultrasound.

The doctor is excited and makes more than one tear. "If this is not life, my God, then what is it!" She exclaims, her voice broken by emotion as thousands of eyes peer out at the silent intrauterine world, through two giant screens. In the Plaza Independencia, a small heart of 14 weeks becomes the protagonist with his heartbeat rushed. On one side, his mother, belly up, laughs happily. This ultrasound in real time became the most sensitive moment for the crowd that gathered yesterday to demonstrate in favor of life, two days after the debate on the decriminalization of abortion in the Chamber of Deputies.

The march "Save the two lives" started from the Monument to the Bicentennial, where they met full families, groups of young people and many children. Several collectives and private cars arrived in caravan from the four cardinal points of the province. The magenta and celestial colors lit the demonstration, which although it had the character of protest, did not avoid the festive spirit of the young people. Songs in favor of life, handkerchiefs with the legend "Save the two lives" around the neck, as a bracelet or as headbands, white and pink balloons, posters of "No to abortion" and attractive dolls, headed by Merceditas (representing a baby of 14 weeks) characterized the march, which is the third that takes place in Tucumán. The Argentine flags were present throughout the day.

Father Marcelo Barrionuevo , parish priest of the Cathedral, reported that some 100,000 people participated in the march. More than 10 blocks quickly moved down Mate de Luna Avenue to the plaza. When going through Motherhood, inpatients crowded in the windows to express their support. When the Lucas Córdoba bridge passed, some 200 doctors dressed in white aprons expressed their decision not to participate in abortions through banners. All had signs that said "With me do not count".

The evangelical churches participated in block. Some 40 pastors of the Federation of Evangelical Churches of Tucumán and of the Ministry of Friends with Purposes (MAP) walked with an extensive banner in favor of life. "It is wonderful that the defense of life has united us Catholics and evangelicals, and also our Christian churches among themselves," says the pastor of the Dokime church, Daniel Soraire .

The thick column reaches the square with different chants. When it seemed that no longer entered a pin in front of the stage, located in Laprida and September 24, on a giant screen you can see the images that the drone emits. They show that there are still six blocks of people left. The act starts before everyone arrives to avoid waiting for the first, and even then ends an hour later than planned. A group of guys with Down Syndrome take to the stage and give away the most emotional moment of the whole march. A song that speaks of the joy of living. They carry a sign that says: "Do not let us get aborted!". "
